Oral Medicine
Training the students in handling initiation, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases and lesions. Emphasis will be placed on coverage of basic diagnostic procedures including taking patient medical and dental history, radiographic evaluation, ordering appropriate laboratory tests and evaluation of their results, comprehensive patient examination and appropriate design of treatment plans. Since medical status of the patients, especially that of medically compromised patients plays a substantial role in management of oral lesions, so awareness of medical conditions of the patient is very important. Being so, one of the major goals in oral medicine is to provide the students with necessary medical informations such as description of common systemic diseases and their oral manifestations and interferences with dental procedures.
